8) Middleboro will be launching our own "Little Free Library". Other towns have already
had much success with this wonderful program. It is an awesome way to bring easy (easier) access to books - especially if you're not close to the library. Each "book box" will hold 20 or so books and
be placed all around the town (we're looking for ideas of where to put them too).
We are looking for donations to build these mini libraries ( on the idea of a large mail box), and
books to fill them. It cost $100.00 to build and we already have some boxes being built.
This is a great way to bring books to kids (and adults), and to show appreciation to someone
special i.e. retired teacher, grandparent, etc. by donating in their name a plaque will be made
and placed on the book box.
To get the ball rolling the PTA voted and approved the donation of $200.00 - $100.00 for
the building of the book box and $100.00 for the books. (donations of gently used books
or more than welcome).

had much success with this wonderful program.

Re: Global Gifts from Heifer International
All,
In a bid to help the youth of Middleboro reach out to other parts of the world, I am requesting funds for each of my five classes to make donations to people in need all around the world. These donations, made through Heifer International, are used to help families directly by providing livestock and animal care training for families in need. After speaking with Mr. Geoghegan, I balanced a budget of $100.00 for each class to reach out in diverse ways,=. The final cost for this will be $495.00, which will hopefully be supported by the PTA.
Within the classroom, Adventurers Geographers will research where these donations are headed and how families will benefit. I imagine this to be a valuable opportunity for everyone involved. Thank you all very much for your support.
This is a breakdown of class donations:
Geography 1: $20.00-Flock of Ducks
50.00-Share of a Heifer
30.00-Honey Bees
Geography 2: $10.00-Share of sheep
10.00-Share of Pig
25.00-Share of Water Buffalo
50.00-Gift of Bio-gas Stove
ne
Geography 3: $20.00-Flock of Chicks
20.00-Share of Llama
60.00-Trio of Rabbits
Geography 4: $30.00-Honey Bees
60.00-Tree Seedlings
10.00-Share of Goat
Geography 5: $60.00-Trio of Rabbits
10.00-Share of Goat
30.00-Share of Fish
Grand total: $495.00
Many thanks for your consideration of this unique opportunity. I feel our NMS community will benefit through this reaching out to those less fortunate! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!
